Small downy annual common in pastures, meadows and moist grassland. A well known popular home garden remedy from Europe.
As the name suggests this plant is a traditionally time-honoured remedy for eye disorders such as eye strain, eye inflammation and weak vision. In addition it has been used to soothe the irritation of hay fever, nasal catarrh and congestion – reputed to have an anti-inflammatory and astringent action on mucous membranes.
